About me...

Who am I?

My name is Benedict Wren. I live in Leeds, UK with my beautiful girlfriend Gemma and our two cats Reagan and Peggy. Click on the questions below for more info!

What do I do?

I work at St James Hospital as an MDT Coordinator for Leeds Cancer Centre. People rarely know what that means so in other words I'm an adminstrator involved in sorting out the care for cancer patients. I organise meetings of a large group of clinicians where the best modes of cancer treatment for individual patients are discussed and decided. I also track the patient through the referral to treatment pathway and ensure that their care is delivered promptly. Click on the 'Work' link above for more details!

What are my skills?

I have a wide knowledge base particularly in physical and biological science. I have studied statistics and computer programming (PASCAL, MATLAB, SQL and a bit of Python (still learning!). My current projects are database design and querying and also HTML and jQuery (that's where this website has come from!). Click on the 'IT' tab for more details or go to 'Downloads' where there are links to some examples of my work.

What are my interests?

I love learning and the more complex and seemingly impossible the topic the more I love studying it. I studied physics at degree level because I've always been fascinated by fundamental questions such as: What is the universe made of? And what is the nature of space and time? I have recently completed my masters degree in neuroscience because another most fundamental mystery of the universe and deep interest of mine is how a bunch of neurons in our brains produce a living, breathing, thinking, conscious being able to perceive and experience the world around us and make free will decisions that affect both the inner and outer worlds.
